Synopsis

The movie is about two Indians, Nikhil Arora (Saif Ali Khan) and Ambar Malhotra (Preity Zinta) who have left India in order to live their own lives in Australia: Nick gave up studying Architecture in his hometown of Ludhiana and moved to Melbourne, Australia, in order to become the chef of a restaurant called "Nick in Time", which provides him with his laid-back lifestyle (and he can get up late in the morning). When he is suppossed to do an interview for the Australia based Indian radio station "Salaam Namaste", he does not show up, so one of the RJs, Ambar Malhotra, seeks him out. She herself lives in Australia, since her family is wants her to marry -- and they are likely to introduce the entire male Indian population to her if she does not choose a suitor. After many misunderstandings, fighting and convincing, they fall in love and move in together. Nick is not the marriage-type, but after all, relationships happen when you are busy not thinking about it...
